Berg Lab visits Aurora Science and Tech High School!
The Berg lab had the opportunity to visit a high school classroom for a day and share our experience of working in science! We hosted a lesson in the beginning of each period that covered immunology basics and then jumped into some wet lab work where we demonstrated how to smash a spleen into single cell suspension, count those splenocytes on a hemocytometer, and finally reviewed some flow cytometry plots to practice analyzing data with the purpose of answering our research question of the day. We had an absolute blast and were exhausted by the end of the day. The students hopefully learned what it’s like to be a scientist and we definitely learned how hard it is to be a teacher!
